Jim Melvin - Skipper

Our skipper has sailed the New England coast since age 10.  Over the past decade he has lead a number of successful racing campaigns including multiple appearances in a variety of New England events (Figawi, Corinthian 200, New Bedford Whaler) and long distance cruises such as Ft Lauderdale to Newport.  The Skipper and his crew have also placed well in high profile events such as the Marion - Bermuda Race and the St. Martin Heineken Regatta.

 
Ken Dieselman - Bowman

Ken has been racing dinghies and big boats since he was eight years old.  Experienced on the bow of various 20-50 ft keel boats, he has sailed on 5 Bermuda races, and numerous offshore races in New England waters.  Inshore regattas include NE PHRF, Buzzards Bay, Block Island, Edgartown and a variety of races out of Marblehead, Boston, Scituate and Newport.

 
Kevin Meagher - Afterguard

kevinKevin began sailing and racing two classes of ice boats in Michigan and is a veteran of many Port Huron to Mackinaw and Chicago Mackinaw races as well as numerous races through the Jolly Rodger Sailing Club on Lake Erie.  Kevin has worked all aspects of the races and has sailed from the South Pacific to South America and nearly everywhere in between.  Kevin is the one non-Boston resident of the team and currently lives and sails his McCurdy-Rhodes sloop on the Pamlico Sound and around the outer banks of North Carolina.

 
Jack McDonough - Pitman

jackJack has been sailing the waters of New England for the better part of two decades.  He has competed in many New England and Caribbean sailing events.  He is a native Bostonian where he lives with his wife and children.

 
Mark Dieselman - Helmsman

Mark has been sailing and racing for most of his life.  Starting in Lasers, 420’s and frostbiting in IC’s and moving to small keel boats including J24’s and J29's.  Mark currently races Lightning’s as well as larger keel boats.  In addition to one design racing, handicap racing has included many Block Island Race Weeks.    Offshore experiences include numerous distance races in the New England waters as well as Newport to Bermuda and Marion to Bermuda races.

 
Dimitri Vlachos - Mainsail Trimmer

dimitriOur mainsail trimmer was born in New York City moving to Boston after college.  Boston is where Dimitri's love with all things sailing began.  Dimitri's sailing career began on Rhodes 19s and J22s in Boston Harbor.  Dimitri has cruised all around the world, Boston Harbor, Mass Bay, Martha's Vineyard, the Caribbean, Canada and Croatia.  In addition to cruising, Dimitri enjoys racing be it small boats (Solings, Sunfish, J22s) or long haul ocean racing (Marion --> Bermuda, Boston --> Annapolis).  When not sailing, Dimitri spends his time attempting to brainwash his wife and three daughters into buying a boat and sailing from Boston to the Galapagos Islands.

 
Jeff Melvin - Grinder & Cook

Jeff has been sailing and racing most of his life. Sunfish, Hobie Cats, Thistles, and most recently working as grinder on ocean events like Figawi, Corinthian 200, New Bedford Whaler,and the  St Martin Heineken Regatta. Jeff also enjoys his mixed duties as cook on long distance events such as cruises from Ft Lauderdale to Newport and the Marion - Bermuda Race.

 
Natalie Jade Ray - Photographer

Natalie has traveled the world pursuing two of her greatest passions: sailing and photography.   She has sailed in wonderful destinations around the world, from Capetown, the Caribbean, Europe, Great Britain, Australia and throughout the U.S.A on a variety of  racing and classic boats. Natalie studied at San Francisco Art Institute, and has documented a mission to Peru for Doctors Without Borders, photographed flamenco dancers in Spain and Aborigines in Australia.  She began as a freelance photographer for Gannet Group.  While doing a boat delivery she realized she could combine sailing and photography into one career.
